Am I awesome or what?

Even an exceptionally modest cat such as myself has to admit that, yeah, I AM pretty darn awesome!  Just check out my awesomely awesome awesomeness:
See??  AWESOME!!!

As the Ambassador cat (or as I like to be called: "The Ambassacat"), for Our Mother's Keepers' "Street Rescue" program, I now have my very own Facebook page (you should check it out: https://www.facebook.com/SammieOurMothersKeepers ) where we recently hosted an online auction to raise money for the vetting of OMK's latest Street Rescues, Smokey and Tigger.
Smokey (grey) and Tigger (orange)

Because of my extraordinary efforts as Ambassacat...okay, so "The Woman" who works for me here at the store helps out a little bit...we raise money to help homeless cats get off the street and into loving homes, by having them vetted: tested, vaccinated, treated for any parasites, etc., and spayed or neutered.  If you would like to help (Hey, I wouldn't have made Ambassacat if I didn't work hard at fund-raising!), you can stop in at my store: Our Mother's Keepers, 85 Water Street, Windsor, NS, to make a donation, or like my page on Facebook to keep up to date with our auctions, draws, and other fund-raising events, and to check out the photos of the cats we've already helped with our program, and any who are currently available for adoption.

Facebooking is exhausting!!

Thank you from a former Street Rescue myself, now a store owner and Ambassacat,

Movin' on up!

Many of you already know my story.  At about this time two years ago, I was a homeless cat.  Some kind people were feeding me and letting me spend the nights in their shed, but they were not able to take me in, unfortunately.  They tried to find out if I had a family, but were unsuccessful in their search, so they tried to find me another home instead.  The people at Our Mother's Keepers had fostered other cats in their store, so they took me in and had me tested, vaccinated, and neutered, hoping that I would become their store cat, but willing to at least foster me if I didn't seem to like the store.  Perish the thought!

It's now two years later, and I am the best store cat the folks at Our Mother's Keepers could ask for.  I actually run this place almost singlehandedly...or singlePAWEDedly, I should say!  I've also become rather popular here at the store, and have now set my sights on being an "Ambassador" for stray cats like me.  The people who work for me here at OMK have helped have five homeless cats vetted and adopted, and we'd like to help other strays with vetting and finding loving homes too.  It takes a lot of time and energy to raise the funds to help these homeless cats, which is why I've generously offered to be OMK's Ambassador for the cause.  What can I say?  I'm a "giver"!

I even have my own Facebook page:  https://www.facebook.com/SammieOurMothersKeepers

Thaaat's better!!

I know I haven't "blogged" for a while, but it's been hot in the store...too hot to write!  And while I am a rather "cool cat" (literally!), and tend to like heat more than the average feline, it's been a little too warm in here...even for me!  "The Woman" who works for me here at the store also likes the heat (she seems to get cold easily, just like me...perhaps that's why we work so well together!), but even she has found it too warm in here lately, so I let her have an air conditioner installed in the store.  It was the least I could do for her, since she does occasionally do some work around here...although I think paying her in kitty cuddles is more than adequate compensation.

And now that I've done the "blogging thing", I think I'll go update the Facebook page...or take a nap...yeah, a nap sounds good... and I deserve it after all this strenuous blogging...

Brrr...I could use a sweater...

You may think, because I'm a cat and have my own "factory-installed" fur coat, and because I live indoors, that I'm probably a pretty warm dude, huh??  Nope.  Even "The Woman" who works here says that I'm the coolest cat she's ever known, and she's not talking about my awesome attitude...although I'm "cool" in that way too...she means my body temperature and the fact that I sometimes get "the shivers" on cold days, even though I'm inside.  Luckily for me however, now that the Christmas rush is over and things have slowed down a little at my store, The Woman has been catching up on her paperwork, which means she's sitting down more often and I can crawl into her lap for a nice warm cuddle!

I'm also fortunate that my pet humans are well-trained and keep me supplied with many items of comfort.  One of my favourite wintertime comfort items is the new heater my pet humans got for me, after a particularly shivery day here in my store.  They had to have a new outlet installed for it, but I didn't mind; I even "helped" the electrician by sticking my paw down the hole he'd drilled in the floor...he was really impressed with my work; if I ever decide to stop being a retail business owner, perhaps I'll become an electrician!  I think my very favourite wintertime item is my awesome tuna can bed; the metalic fabric on the lid reflects my body heat and makes it extra warm inside.  The best part is that my well-trained pet humans put my new heater where the heat blows near my tuna can bed!  I have good pet humans.
